The Japan Measuring Instruments Federation (JMIF) is a nationwide association of leading Japanese
companies and organizations in the field of measurement and metrology. JMIF was established on May 21,
1952 to promote and develop the industry by improving the sophistication of measuring instruments and
thereby contribute to a better economy and better lives for the Japanese people. It celebrated its
70th anniversary in 2022.
From its founding to the present day, JMIF has continuously developed and undergone reorganizations in
response to changes in the societal landscape through.
JMIF engages in technological development, research surveys, demand development, and an array of other
projects to achieve its founding goal.
As of 2023, JMIF is composed of 125 companies and 5 organizations as regular members, 17 companies and
4 organizations as supporting members.
By bringing together companies and organizations that deal in measuring instruments, instrumentation
devices and other related equipment, JMIF is constantly working to develop the measurement and
metrology industry, aiming to produce and supply equipment that meets the needs of the latest era.
