JMIF visit to ASEAN countries
JMIF conducted a five-day visit to metrology-related organizations and companies in ASEAN countries including Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines from September 29th to October 3rd, 2025 for promoting the ICW to be held next year.

Day1:September 29th,at National Metrology Institute of Malaysia(NMIM)
NMIM is a statutory business unit, operating as government function under SIRIM Berhad that facilitates domestic and international trade as well as ensuring safety, health and environment for Malaysians through measurement.
At NMIM, JMIF introduced the activities of JMIF and ICW2026 and invited the researchers to participate in the event. JMIF delegation also exchanged information of legal metrology with NMIM and tour the facility of NMIM like Primary Mass Laboratory and Mass Calibration Laboratory.

Day2:September 30th,at Persatuan Pembaik Alat Timbang & Sukat Malaysia (PPATSM)
PPATSM is the association of weighing and measuring instrument companies in Malaysia. JMIF delegation visited the office of PPATSM and introduced JMIF, the legal metrology system in Japan and ICW2026 in front of 30-40 members of PPATSM, inviting them to participate in the event. After the introduction of each association, JMIF and members of PPATSM had lunch together and deepened exchange.

Day3:October 1st,at the Weights and Measures Office (WMO) and A Star National Metrology Centre (NMC) in Singapore
JMIF delegation visited WMO and NMC. WMO is an office overseen by the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore, a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry. WMO safeguards the interests of consumers and businesses by ensuring a uniform and accurate system of weights and measures in Singapore. JMIF delegation and WMO representatives had a meeting and exchanged information of legal metrology systems in each country and JMIF delegation also introduced ICW2026 and invited WMO representatives to participate in the event.

NMC is the national measurement institute of Singapore, dedicated to advancing measurement science for an innovative and competitive economy. JMIF introduced activities of JMIF and ICW2026, calling for participation in the event. After the discussion, NMC gave JMIF delegation a tour of the laboratories such as primary mass lab, liquid flow lab and geometry, form and angle lab.

Day4:October 2nd,at Cairnhill Metrology Pte Ltd in Singapore
Cairnhill Metrology is an industrial metrology solutions provider and the company's line of business includes distributing professional equipment, such as drafting instruments, laboratory equipment, and scientific instruments. After introducing the ICW and discussion, company tour was held.

Day5:October 3rd,at The National Metrology Laboratory of the Philippines (NML) and First Philippine Scales, Inc.(FPSI)
NML is the acting national metrology institute of the Philippines tasked by law to be responsible for establishing and maintaining the national measurement standards for physical quantities. For JMIF, NML held a meeting for the promotional activities of ICW2026 intended for NML researchers and calibration offices. The meeting started with the opening remarks of Dr. Annabelle V. Briones, Director, Industrial Technology Development Institute (ITDI) followed by presentations about legal metrology systems by JMIF and NML. After the promotion meeting, JMIF participated in the factory tour of FPSI, which NML arranged for our visit. At the tour, FPSI showed us the process of making scales, and FPSI was awarded certificate for appreciation by NML.


JMIF will continue maintaining regular contacts and building close relationships with metrology-related organizations and companies in ASEAN countries.
